Submission Guidelines
ABC Journal
Manuscripts can be submitted between 01.01.2012 and 01.02.2012 via e-mail to abcjournal.csca@gmail.com
IMPORTANT NOTE CONCERNING PUBLICATION
ABC Journal is an academic archive that highlights research conducted by UvA students. Accepted articles are not accessible on online academic search engines such as PubMed, and acceptance at ABC Journal does not preclude publication in professional journals or other scientific outlet.
Manuscripts have to meet the following requirements:
- Manuscripts have to be written in English.
- Only empirical research will be accepted (i.e. research projects). Literature reviews will not be accepted.
- Manuscript have to be submitted as a single text file (.doc, docx or .odt).
- Text must be double-spaced, justified text alignment and figures should be included in the text (including captions).
- Sections & word limits:
- Title
- Author names and affiliations (the student should be first author; other co-authors are at the discretion of the student and supervisor)
- Abstract: max. 150 words
- Introduction: max. 1000 words
- Materials & Methods
- Results
- Discussion: max. 2000 words
- References
- No supplemental material
- Reference style: Journal of Neuroscience
- In text: (Black et al., 1978) or Brown and Black (1979); 3+ authors: et al.
- List of references:
- Style: “Hamill OP, Marty A, Neher E, Sakmann B, Sigworth F (1981) Improved patch-clamp techniques for high-resolution current recordings from cells and cell free membrane patches. Pflugers Arch 391:85-100.”
Along with the manuscript, the author(s) should include:
- 2-4 possible reviewers. These potential reviewers should be qualified academic staff members (PhD and above) from outside of the group the research was conducted in, but from within the Amsterdam academic community (UvA, VU, AMC, etc.). No conflicts of interest should be present.
- A scanned and signed agreement form, indicating that the student and his/her supervisor agree to have the thesis reviewed and potentially accepted to ABC Journal as an extended abstract or full report.
Attachments
Papers not been accepted for full-length publication will be included in the Journal as an abstract.
Authors may resubmit their abstracts as 400 word abstracts including up to one summary figure.
